Preferred Tool and Die has several areas of unique expertise. We have strong die engineering ability, which translates into our ability to successfully create dies for difficult and/or complex parts. Following are some other examples of unique expertise upon which we have focused.
Sunroof treatments including roof opening, roof opening reinforcement, glass reinforcement, and roof bows. If you make sunroof parts you know the special requirements to produce a good assembly. Preferred has produced dies for 25 sunroof assemblies. We have the knowledge and experience needed to make your sunroof project a success.
Mechanically transferred parts offer opportunities for material savings, reduced off-line operations, and bulky part handling. We have experience in cut-off and draw fed transfer dies and blank fed transfer dies. We can provide the most complete and efficient stamping process using our experience with in-die part reorientation with and without a dedicated station and with and with out articulated fingers, and introduction of additional parts such as swaged tubes, studs, and nuts.

We offer a very robust in-die lift and carry transfer system for your die or ours. We also can provide a full three-axis transfer for in die or press mounting using our
DieBotics line of transfers.
Our attention to detail and quality has allowed Preferred to attract aerospace stamping and machining business. We can build the stamping dies and run the production or use your dies for production. We currently stamp eight different aerospace parts. We have machined aerospace fuel injector baffles less than an inch across to jet engine mounting rings more than 26 inches across. With CNC equipment to 63” x 120” and presses to 750 tons and 156” bed we can accommodate a wide variety of needs.
Post processing of rolled sections. Examples include door beams, roof bows, and door window frames. The challenge is taking a rolled section with its inherent variation and stamping a more capable part. We have produced dies for over 50 of these types of parts over the last few years. In addition to our experience with these types of parts we have developed an in-die transfer system for increased production and quality. This transfer system is inexpensive, robust, and very well suited for this type of part.
